Malwarebytes has plenty going for it, but there are still some issues that keep it from being the best choice for all users. It is one of the reasons it costs more than some of its competitors for a single device subscription. It’s also not as comprehensive in terms of features compared to other models.
Malwarebytes provides multiple layers of protection including web protection and ransomware protection. It also provides adware and malware protection and removal and detection. It also has solid real-world security capabilities, with results from AV Comparatives testing that consistently place it among the top products in its class (August 2022 – October 2022).
Paid subscribers can access all of these features and more. Clicking on the corkscrew in the bottom right corner on the dashboard allows them to control the settings of the software. The tab includes seven sections where you can modify the program to meet your needs. These include notifications, how often and at what times it checks for threat intelligence updates, a number of scan options, and a variety of other visual preferences, such as the theme.
The premium version has advanced features, such as exploit protection. This stops attacks that use weaknesses and bugs within applications and systems. Malwarebytes can also detect and block browser lockers, block in-browser Cryptojackers, and stop other scams which try to special info steal information or money from your account online. It even detects and stop phishing sites. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t come with the same level of protection against identity theft that some of its competitors do However, that’s likely to be changing soon as it just bought Cyrus Security, a company that provides those services.
